The Gotham TV Awards will soon return for their sophomore ceremony, and the list of this year’s nominees is finally in. Netflix’s hit mini-series Adolescence topped the list of nominees with four nods, followed by The Pitt, Matlock, and Dying For S-x with three each.

Adolescence scored a total of four nominations, including breakthrough limited series, along with Dying For S-x, Get Millie Back, Penelope, and Say Nothing. Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, and Erin Doherty also scored nominations for their respective performances in the acting categories.

The Pitt and Matlock are leading the way in the drama field with three nods each, while The Studio, Overcompensating, Penelope, Fantasmas, Deli Boys, Forever, English Teacher, and Paradise managed to score two nominations each.

Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of The Gotham, said they’re proud to build on the success of last year’s inaugural ceremony and get a larger stage to celebrate the creators and artists making their mark on today’s television landscape.

“As the first awards show of the new television season, we are proud to bring together the industry’s most exciting new voices, celebrate breakthrough achievements, and deepen our commitment to supporting the creative community,” said Sharp in a statement.

Severance is one of the biggest hits that Apple TV+ has in store, and they’re not letting go of it anytime soon. The streaming giant celebrated the explosive Season 2 finale by announcing they’re renewing the hit sci-fi series for another season.

Severance stars Adam Scott as Mark Scout, a grieving man working for the sinister corporation Lumon Industries, after agreeing to a become a part of “severance” program, allowing for his workplace memories to be separated from his personal memories.

In addition to Scott, the cast of this acclaimed series also includes Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Sarah Bock, and Patricia Arquette.

Ben Stiller, who serves as producer and primary director of Severance, confirmed the show’s renewal for Season 3.

“Making Severance has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of. While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well,” said Stiller in a statement.

Severance premiered on Apple TV+ in 2022, and it grew into the streamer’s most-watched series in history, after logging 589 million minutes viewed in the U.S. following the Season 2 premiere.

Disney+ has given us several epic series set in the MCU, and Daredevil: Born Again is one of the most promising new additions to the canon. The first trailer for this hotly anticipated superhero series is here, and it sees Matt Murdock going back to his old vigilante ways.

Daredevil: Born Again will see Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) trying to leave his past behind and fight for justice through his bustling law firm. His old vigilante identity starts to emerge after he finds himself on an inevitable collision course with the former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), who’s pursing his own political endeavors in New York.

The new trailer marks the reunion between Murdock and Fisk, who are chatting over a cup of coffee at the start of the clip. “I will admit, it’s not entirely unpleasant seeing you again,” says Fisk before reminiscing about the past and asking Murdock why he’s no longer fighting for justice as a vigilante.

The new trailer also teases the comeback of Frank Castle aka Punisher (Jon Bernthal), and gives us a glimpse of the rest of the supporting cast, which includes Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Ayelet Zurer, Wilson Bethel, Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, and Jeremy Earl.

Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ on March 4, and it will feature nine episodes.

And Just Like That… will soon return for Season 3, and it will introduce us to some new characters once it comes back. Patti LuPone and Kristen Schaal landed mystery roles in the next season of the S-x and the City sequel series, while Rosemarie DeWitt will reprise her role from Season 2.

Rosemarie DeWitt will be back as Aidan’s ex-wife, Kathy, after making a guest appearance during the show’s second season. Patti LuPone (Agatha All Along) will also “have a story arc in Season 3”, and she’ll be joined by Kristen Schaal (What We Do in the Shadows) in a mystery role.

Michael Patrick King teased their casting in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, along with many changes coming our way in Season 3.

“It’s a lot of ‘new’ within the familiar, but even the familiar characters are going through new things… We feel that there’s a lot of newness in the world right now, especially for these characters. We wanted to tell new stories and put them through new obstacles,” said King.

Season 3 of And Just Like That… will also star Rosie O’Donnell, Cheri Oteri, Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake, and Logan Marshall-Green, along with the leading trio Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. It will mark the departure of Sara Ramírez as the stand-up comedian Che Diaz and Karen Pittman as the Columbia law school professor Nya Wallace.

After taking Hollywood by storm, Glen Powell is getting ready to return to our small screens next year. Hulu dropped the first teaser for the upcoming sports comedy Chad Powers, which sees Powell transform into a hotshot quarterback who comes with a wild strategy to revive his career.

Chad Powers centers on the former NFL-bound quarterback Russ Holliday, who nuked his promising college career with his bad behavior. Instead of calling it quits, he decides to disguise himself and join a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.

This half-hour comedy series draws inspiration from the ESPN+ series Eli’s Places starring Peyton and Eli Manning. They’re executive producing it through their company Omaha Productions, along with Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown, and ESPN. Powell and Michael Waldron serve as co-creators of this series, and they’re also coming on board as EPs through their respective companies Barnstorm Productions and Anomaly Pictures.

In addition to Powell in the titular role, Chad Powers will also star Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny, and Steve Zahn as Jake Hudson. It will premiere in the fall of 2025, and Hulu is yet to announce its official release date.

2024 has given us many amazing shows, but it also took away many favorites from us. This year marked the ending of several beloved series that we’ve been watching for years, and here are five we’ll miss the most.

Yellowstone

After five seasons chronicling the adventures of the Dutton family, Yellowstone came to a close this December. Even though the original series ended its run, its legacy will live on through several spin-offs, including the upcoming sequel starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser.

Curb Your Enthusiasm

After making us laugh for 12 seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David decided to pull the plug on this series, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he changed his mind in the future.

Young Sheldon

The origin story of Sheldon Cooper became such a huge hit that CBS could’ve kept it going for years, but Season 7 felt like a natural ending to his coming-of-age journey.

The Umbrella Academy

We’ve spent four seasons watching the Hargreeves siblings trying to use their special power to prevent the impending apocalypse, and their journey came to an end after four seasons on Netflix.

What We Do in the Shadows

The vampire comedy has been an underrated fan favorite throughout its run, and its sixth and final season allowed us to say goodbye to our favorite Staten Island vampires struggling to fit into the modern world.

Formula 1 officially green-lit their very first scripted series, and they found the perfect person to lead it. The Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Jones is circling the lead role in this promising racing drama, which is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios for Prime Video.

One is Formula 1’s very first officially sanctioned scripted series, and it will reportedly focus on “a failing family-owned racing team, as it contends with fierce personalities, ever-changing rivals, and multi-million-dollar stakes.”

Amazon MGM Studios is developing this project for Prime Video, but they’re yet to give it an official series order. Bedrock Entertainment is producing the series, and they tapped the Oscar-nominated duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men) to write and executive produce this project.

Jones is also joining them as one of the producers alongside her brother and producing partner Alexander Jones under their Piecrust Pictures banner. Tony To and Dan Sackheim are serving as executive producers for Bedrock, along with Philippe Maigret for ITV Studios America.

Jones is fresh off starring in the historical drama The Brutalist, which recently earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She’s best known as the Oscar-nominated star of The Theory of Everything, whose notable credits also include roles in Like Crazy, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, The Invisible Woman, and On the Basis of S-x.

Revivals of the beloved 2000s series are all the rage in Hollywood these days, and Malcolm in the Middle is the next one in line. Disney+ is celebrating its upcoming 25th anniversary by ordering a four-episode revival starring the original cast members Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek.

According to its official logline, the four-episode special will see Malcolm and his daughter getting draw back into the family’s chaos after his parents Hal and Lois invite them to their 40th wedding anniversary party.

The original series creator, Linwood Boomer, is also the mastermind behind this four-episode revival. Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, praised his commitment to bringing back the laughs, pranks, and mayhem that fans of Malcolm in the Middle loved so much.

Malcolm in the Middle is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart, and relatability. Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages, and we’re so excited to welcome the original cast back to bring that magic to life again,” said Davis in a statement.

Malcolm in the Middle ran on Fox for seven seasons between 2000 and 2006, and it centered on a gifted young teen struggling with growing pains while living with his comically dysfunctional family. It won seven Emmy Awards and many other accolades during its run.

Henry Cavill is a diehard fan of the Warhammer 40,000 franchise, and he’s been gearing up to bring it to our small screens. He recently shared an exciting update about the upcoming adaptation of the hit tabletop game, which is being developed by Amazon Prime Video.

The adaptation of Warhammer 40,000 has been in the works since December 2022, when the streamer initially acquired the global rights. Two years later, this project is yet to see the light of day, but it’s full steam ahead after Games Workshop agreed on “creative guidelines for the films and television series to be developed by Amazon.”

Cavill dropped some hints about the future of this project by sharing a photo in front of The Little Shop in Saint Helier, Jersey, where he bought his first Warhammer models as a child. He also revealed that he’s been working closely with the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, breaking down approaches to the Warhammer universe.

“Together, we’ve been sifting through the plethora of incredible characters and poring over old tomes and texts. Our combined efforts have led us to a fantastic place to start our Universe, which has been agreed upon by those up on high at both Amazon and Games Workshop,” wrote Cavill.

Warhammer 40,000 adaptation still doesn’t have a potential release date, and the production process “may take a number of years,” according to Games Workshop’s recent press release. Cavill has been tapped to executive produce this project, and Amazon is yet to lock down a potential showrunner.
