The Walking Dead, based on a comic book series by Robert Kirkman, postulates what life would be like following a zombie apocalypse.

Here are ten fun facts about the show:

The flesh the walkers eat is actually ham soaked in vinegar.

When Dale dies, his guts were actually made out of chicken breasts.

Core characters Daryl, Merle, and Sasha don’t exist in the comics.

The bag of drugs that Daryl finds has blue meth in it, which is a sneaky reference to Breaking Bad.

HBO passed on The Walking Dead because they deemed it too violent.
