We’ll have to wait until next month for the Primetime Emmy Awards to return to Los Angeles, and they’ve been preceded by the Daytime Emmy Awards this past week. The beloved soap opera General Hospital walked away with six awards, including outstanding drama series.

It’s not a shocker to see ABC’s long-running soap opera dominate this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards since it came into the night as the top nominee, with a total of 14 nods. It defeated The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, and The Young and the Restless to be named the outstanding drama series—and that was just the beginning!

General Hospital also dominated the acting field, with four of its stars walking away with shiny trophies for their respective performances, including Robert Gossett, Eden McCoy, Alley Mills, and the late Sonya Eddy.

Kelly Clarkson also had a reason to celebrate at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, after walking away with two trophies, including outstanding daytime talk series and outstanding daytime talk series host for The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The 50th Daytime Emmy Awards returned to Los Angeles on December 15, following a major postponement in the face of the dual strikes in Hollywood. Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner of Entertainment Tonight hosted the ceremony for the second year in a row.
