The Daytime Emmy Awards returned to Los Angeles on Friday, and it was a night to remember for the team behind General Hospital. The medical soap opera was the biggest winner of the night, and it walked away with seven trophies, including the outstanding drama series.
General Hospital won its third consecutive Daytime Emmy for the outstanding drama series, and it defeated some tough competition this time around. The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, Neighbors, and The Young and the Restless were also in the running for this award. By coming out victorious in this category, General Hospital extended its record for most outstanding drama series wins to 14.
ABC’s hit soap opera came out victorious in six more categories, including outstanding supporting performance (Robert Gossett), plus outstanding directing and writing for a drama series, in addition to three more technical awards.
It was also a night to remember for Kelly Clarkson, whose The Kelly Clarkson Show pulled off six wins. It netted another win for the outstanding daytime talk series, beating The View, The Jennifer Hudson Show, Tamron Hall, and Turning the Tables with Robin Roberts.
The 2024 Daytime Emmy Awards were held on June 7 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, with Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner serving as hosts.
