The upcoming Emmy Awards faced several major delays, but they’re finally coming back this January—with a brand-new host! Black-ish star Anthony Anderson will be in charge of hosting the Primetime Emmy Awards when they return to Los Angeles this winter.

Anderson and the Television Academy go way back, and he attended the Emmys on several occasions in the past. He scored 11 Emmy nods during his time on the ABC sitcom Black-ish, both as its leading actor and executive producer.

Anderson will now return to the Emmys stage as the ceremony’s host, and he’s looking forward to being a part of the biggest night in television.

“With our industry’s recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love — dressing up and honoring ourselves. And there’s no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the milestone 75th Emmy Awards,” said Anderson in a statement.

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards experienced a major date shift in the face of the dual SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, and they’re now scheduled for January 15, 2024. The final season of Succession topped the list of nominees with a total of 14 nods, followed by the anthology series The White Lotus with 12 nominations.
