The Gotham TV Awards took place for the first time this Tuesday, and the inaugural list of winners is pretty impressive. Netflix’s breakout hit Baby Reindeer was among the biggest winners of the night, along with Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Colin From Accounts.
Amazon Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith knocked it out of the park with its first season and defeated Fallout and The Curse to win the best breakthrough drama award. Colin From Accounts came out victorious on the comedy side, beating Bodkin and Gen V.
It was also a huge night for the Baby Reindeer creator and star Richard Gadd, who accepted the show’s award for the breakthrough limited series in person.
“It’s kind of weird also that a show as messed up as this has gone on to strike a chord with so many people. I think it speaks to the fact that a lot of people in the world are struggling right now. And I don’t know much in the way of advice, but I do know that nothing lasts forever,” said Gadd in his acceptance speech.
The Gotham Awards have been around for over three decades, but this marks the first time they held a separate ceremony dedicated to television. The awards were handed out at Cipriani 25 in New York City on June 4.
