Abbott Elementary is one of the most popular TV comedies to air in recent years, and awards are constantly coming its way. ABC’s hit sitcom emerged as the main contender at this year’s NAACP Image Award, with nine nominations in the television categories.

Abbott Elementary will be competing for the outstanding comedy series, but it will have to face tough competition in Amazon Prime Video’s Harlem, Netflix’s Survival of the Thickest, CBS’s The Neighborhood, and Hulu’s UnPrisoned.

Abbott Elementary owes six of its nominations to its amazing cast, with Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, William Stanford Davis, Janelle James, and Sheryl Lee Ralph all receiving nods in their respective fields, along with the guest star Ayo Edebiri.

Shonda Rhimes’ Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and the final season of Snowfall are leading the way on the drama side, with six nods each. They’re both contenders for the outstanding drama series award, along with Peacock’s Bel-Air, Hulu’s Black Cake, and NBC’s Found.

The list of contenders for the outstanding television movie, limited series, or special includes Black Girl Missing, First Lady of BMF: The Tonesa Welch Story, Heist 88”, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and Swarm. The winners will be announced from the Pasadena Convention Center on March 16.
