2023 has definitely been the year of Succession and The Bear, and they’re getting credit where credit is due! The Primetime Emmy Awards returned to Los Angeles on Monday to celebrate the best television of the past year, and these two shows emerged as top winners, with six trophies each.

After dominating the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards, The Bear came back for more at the Emmys. It won six accolades, including outstanding comedy series, acting awards for Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Ayo Edebiri, and writing and directing honors for its creator Christopher Storer.

The final season of Succession got the farewell it deserved and won a total of six trophies. It was named outstanding drama series and won writing and directing accolades for the acclaimed episode “Connor’s Wedding”, while its stars Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, and Matthew Macfadyen dominated their respective acting categories.

It was also a big night for Netflix, as their series Beef won five awards, including outstanding limited or anthology series. Lee Sung Jin was honored for his work as the show’s writer and director, while Steven Yeun and Ali Wong picked up acting accolades for their lead turns.

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards aired live on Fox from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on January 15, with Anthony Anderson hosting the show.
