From Cheers to The Good Place, Ted Danson spent decades giving us comedy gold—and he’s getting credit where credit is due! The acclaimed actor will be honored with the Carol Burnett Award at the upcoming Golden Globes for his outstanding contributions to the world of television.

Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, announced Danson as the next recipient of this prestigious award and said it’s an honor to celebrate the tremendous impact he has made and continues to make in television.

“Ted Danson has entertained audiences for decades with his iconic performances that will forever be ingrained in television history. His renowned career is a testament to his remarkable talent and versatility as an actor and bears resemblance to the award’s legendary namesake,” said Hoehne in a statement.

The Carol Burnett Award is a relatively new honor, and it’s only been around since 2019. The legendary comedian Carol Burnett was the first recipient, and Ellen DeGeneres, Norman Lear, and Ryan Murphy followed in her footsteps in the years to come.

Danson will be honored with his award during a special gala dinner on January 3, 2025, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel along with Viola Davis, this year’s Cecil B. DeMille Award winner. The Golden Globes nominations will be announced on December 9, while the award ceremony will take place on January 5, 2025.
