3 Body Problem is one of the most ambitious shows to premiere on Netflix this spring, and the streaming giant has big plans for its future. Its creators David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo recently dropped some hints about its future, and revealed they’re planning to end it with Season 3.

The trio discussed the next chapter of this series during the Television Academy panel at the Netflix FYSEE space, revealing they had a three-season arc mapped up from the very start.

“We included a lot of what we loved from the [novels] in Season 1, but the vast majority of reasons we wanted to make this show are in Season 2. We always wanted to get to the final page of the third book, and it’s really, really thrilling to us that we will get to do just that,” said Weiss.

3 Body Problem was officially renewed for Season 2 just last month, and having three seasons to wrap up this story will allow them to match the number of books in Cixin Liu’s trilogy, which inspired this sci-fi series.

Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, and Jess Hong lead the ensemble cast of this sci-fi saga about a group of scientists from all around the world working together to confront humanity’s greatest threat.
