4 Best TV Series From the 2024 Academy Award Winners

The Academy Awards returned to Los Angeles this Sunday night and saw Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer sweep the ceremony. Its stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. collected acting Oscars alongside Poor Things’ Emma Stone and The Holdovers’ Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and they all have some impressive TV credits under their belt.

Cillian Murphy – Peaky Blinders

Cillian Murphy doesn’t have too many TV credits to his name, but sometimes, less is more. His character Tommy Shelby is one of the most beloved anti-heroes of the 2010s, and Peaky Blinders wouldn’t be the same without him.

Robert Downey Jr. – The Sympathizer

Robert Downey Jr. hasn’t taken a major TV role since playing Larry Paul in Ally McBeal over two decades ago, but that’s about to change. He’ll next appear in HBO’s black comedy The Sympathizer, based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning book.

Emma Stone – The Curse

Emma Stone is pretty picky when it comes to her TV projects, and her choices are always spot-on. Black comedies seem to be her forte, and she starred in The Curse alongside Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie, in addition to previously leading Netflix’s Maniac.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph – High Fidelity

Unlike the rest of the Oscar winners this year, Da’Vine Joy Randolph has a pretty long list of TV credits to her name. We’ve seen her star in The Idol, Only Murders in the Building, and Empire, but her supporting role in the short-lived Hulu series High Fidelity remains our personal favorite.
