5 Alternative Shows To Watch If You Love “Black Mirror”

Anna Paquin in "Electric Dreams"

Are you a Black Mirror fan? Great, we are too. The trouble is, each season only contains a few episodes, and we have to wait a year or more in-between each. Luckily, there’s a whole host of excellent dark sci-fi shows you can watch while you wait. Here are 5 that we rate.

Electric Dreams

Based on a short stories by Philip K. Dick, Electric Dreams is similar to Black Mirror in the fact it contains stand-alone episodes in unique sci-fi settings. It also contains a stellar cast, including one grueling episode starring
Bryan Cranston.

Inside No. 9

Inside No. 9 is a comedy horror where each episode takes place at a different no. 9 location. It’s hugely inventive and, like Black Mirror, each episode has its own flavor.

Dark Net

Dark Net is another series fixated on the horrors of technology. The documentary show does not look at possible technologies in the future, but focuses on the dark side of the technologies we have already. Spooky.

Mr Robot

Starring Bohemian Rhapsody‘s Rami Malek, Mr Robot follows a vigilante hacker named Elliot who is recruited to a plot to take down corporate America. It’s dark, gritty and plagued with moral dilemmas and concerns, just like Charlie Brooker’s hit show.

Humans

Humans is a gritty sci-fi drama about a world where technology is so advanced that humanoid robots have been introduced to the household. Think Alexa but in the form of a synth that looks like someone you went to school with. It’s gripping, unsettling and full of philosophical concepts we’ve been thinking about since Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner.
