5 Marvel Shows We’re Gutted To Say Goodbye To On Netflix

Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones in "The Defenders"

November sees the launch of a new Disney streaming channel. This means that the superhero Marvel series that we avidly watched on Netflix have all been canceled.  Here’s a shout-out to our favorite Marvel-Netflix collaborations that we have lost.

Jessica Jones

Jessica Jones is one of Marvel’s darker and more complex characters. Following a tragedy that terminates her career as a superhero, she moves to New York to open a detective agency. Her trials and tribulations are echoed by the fact that she wants to do good, but her primary goal is saving her apartment and surviving each day.

Daredevil

Daredevil is set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and shares continuity with the box-office films.  The central character is a blind lawyer by day and a masked vigilante by night. Although he does not have super-human strength, his heightened senses, and martial art training, allow him to fight crime.

Luke Cage

Luke Cage is an ex-convict who was incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. While in prison, he undergoes human experimentation and gains the powers of superhuman strength and unbreakable skin. Once released, Luke decides to use his strength to make the streets of Harlem crime-free. He was the first black superhero to be the central protagonist and titular character.

The Defenders

This series is a collaboration of Marvel’s favorite heroes, all fighting to save New York City. Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist all come together to fight the biggest battle of their lives. The first challenge is for the four powerful and independent individuals to actually acknowledge that they are stronger together.

Iron Fist

Iron Fist’s super-power is quite literally the strength in his hand. Although this show got the most mixed reviews, its plot twists and fighting scenes did captivate the audience and we can only imagine what direction a new season may have taken.
