Rick and Morty premiered in December 2013 and is one of the few TV shows to receive an impressive 9.3 on IMDB. In case you’re also painfully awaiting news on the fourth season of Rick and Morty, here are some fun facts about the show to make the wait a little easier.

  1. Dan Harmon, who co-created Rick and Morty is also the creator of Community. The show is parodied in the second season episode “Unity”.

  4. The show was inspired by the cult classic Back to the Future. Roiland previously had an idea for a show called “The Real Animated Adventures of Doc and Mharti”.
  5. The show’s pilot was written in an impressive six hours.
  6. The episode “Total Recall” where Mr Poppybutthole is suddenly introduced is inspired by the sudden appearance of Buffy’s sister, Dawn, in season five of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
