Abbott Elementary created more buzz than any sitcom in recent years, and ABC won’t be letting go of it anytime soon. The acclaimed mockumentary series is officially coming back for another ride after being renewed for Season 5 at ABC.

Abbott Elementary is set at an underfunded elementary school in Philadelphia, and centers on a group of teachers and staff trying to educate unruly kids with limited resources while dealing with personal and professional drama.

In addition to Quinta Brunson, who serves as creator and lead of Abbott Elementary, the ensemble cast of this acclaimed series also includes Tyler James Williams, Janelle James, Lisa Ann Walter, Chris Perfetti, William Stanford Davis, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.

ABC announced the show’s renewal shortly after Abbott Elementary attracted 8.05 million viewers with its winter premiere. This episode aired on January 8, and it marked the long-awaited crossover with the hit series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Abbott Elementary is currently halfway through its fourth season, and here’s what its next episode titled “Strike” has in store:

“City buses have stopped running due to a strike, resulting in many students being absent from school. The teachers at Abbott try to find creative solutions and adapt to hybrid learning. Meanwhile, Gregory and O’Shon strike up a friendship,” reads ABC’s official logline.
