Amazon Prime Video is doing a pretty great job casting the upcoming Spider-Noir series, and another actor just hopped on board. Abraham Popoola joined Nicolas Cage and the rest of the show’s ensemble as a series regular.
According to Amazon’s official logline, Spider-Noir will tell “the story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”
Nicolas Cage was tapped to portray the titular role after he previously voiced the character in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot will serve as the show’s co-showrunners and executive producers, alongside Into the Spider-Verse team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.
In addition to Cage, Spider-Noir will also star Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, and Li Jun Li. Abraham Popoola is joining them in the role of “a World War I veteran who is looking for an opportunity to get ahead”, and the name of his character is yet to be announced.
Popoola is fresh of starring in Netflix’s sci-fi action drama Atlas opposite Jennifer Lopez, Simu Liu, and Sterling K. Brown and the superhero flick The Marvels. His notable TV credits include supporting roles in The Curse, Andor, The Rig, and Extortionary.
