Sky is currently plotting a high-stakes nuclear bomb thriller, Atomic, and they managed to round out a pretty impressive cast. Alfie Allen, Shazad Latif, and Samira Wiley will lead this series about two unlikely heroes trying to prevent a potential nuclear catastrophe.
Atomic will center on Max (Allen) and Mohammed (Latif), two unlikely friends who find themselves swept up in a cartel’s plot to transport uranium across North Africa. They have an almost impossible choice at hand—saving themselves or risking everything to prevent a nuclear bomb from getting into the wrong hands.
Wiley will join the cast as Cassie Elliott, described as a highly skilled agent who spent most of her time in the CIA trying to prevent terrorists from getting their hands on a nuclear bomb.
This series is based on William Langewiesche’s non-fiction book Atomic Bazaar. Gregory Burke wrote the script, and he’s thrilled to bring it to life alongside such a wonderful cast and the brilliant director Shariff Korver.
“It is a story about the terrifying prospect of a world where nuclear weapons are easier to acquire than ever before, and about the infinite possibilities that exist within the best of us and the worst of us,” said Burke in a statement.
