Ever since Fear the Walking Dead premiered in 2015, Alycia Debnam-Carey was one of its shiniest stars, but those days will soon be behind her. She decided to leave this post-apocalyptic zombie series after playing Alicia Clark for seven seasons.
Debnam-Carey made her last appearance on the show in Sunday night’s episode “Amina”. Her emotional send-off leaves a door open for a possible comeback, but the 28-year-old actress feels like this was the right moment to say goodbye for now.
“After 7 years and 100 episodes, I decided it was time for me to move on as an actor and as a person. As is the nature of our jobs I needed to seek out new challenges, new opportunities and carve out a new chapter for myself,” she explained in a lengthy social media statement.
Debnam-Carey got her big break playing the role of Lexa on another hit post-apocalyptic show The 100, before joining Fear the Walking Dead in 2015. Her departure from this series isn’t a huge shocker for her die-hard fans because it comes only a few weeks after it was announced she was cast in Hulu’s Saint X, an eight-part psychological drama based on Alexis Schaitkin’s novel of the same name.
