Amanda Seyfried starred in several high-profile TV projects in recent years, and another one is on the way! The Emmy-winning actress landed a lead role in Peacock’s upcoming limited series Long Bright River, based on Liz Moore’s hit book of the same name.
This suspense thriller will center on Mickey (Seyfried), a police officer in Philadelphia, whose neighborhood has been hit hard by the opioid crisis. Following a series of murders, she comes to the conclusion that her personal history is connected to this case.
Liz Moore will be in charge of adapting her own novel for Peacock, and she’ll be joined by Nikki Toscano (The Offer, Hunters), who’ll also serve as showrunner. They’ll both be credited as executive producers alongside Amy Pascal for Pascal Pictures, and Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and Amanda Lewis for Original Film.
Moore described Long Bright River as “a story about the collective power of an underserved community” and thanked Seyfried for helping her tell it.
“Moore’s family history and her work with harm-reduction and community-service organizations in Philadelphia informed the series, which aims to portray with compassion the lives of those struggling with addiction and the family members who love them,” Moore and Toscano said in a joint statement.
