Amazon Prime Video knocked it out of the park with the first season of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which scored 16 Emmy nods earlier this week. Amazon’s Jennifer Salke and Vernon Sanders recently dropped some hints about its future and teased a “wildly imaginative” Season 2.

Inspired by the 2005 action comedy of the same name, Mr. & Mrs. Smith stars Donald Glover and Maya Erskine as two perfect strangers who find themselves in an arranged marriage after agreeing to work for a mysterious agency and complete high-stakes missions around the world.

This series will come into this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards with 16 nods, including the outstanding drama series and acting nominations for its leading duo Glover and Erskine. Its first season featured an impressive roster of guest stars and several scored Emmy nods, as well, including Paul Dano, John Turturro, Michaela Coel, Sarah Paulson, and Parker Posey.

Amazon MGM Studios chief Jennifer Salke and head of TV Vernon Sanders recently discussed the show’s future with Variety, dropping some hints about Season 2.

Sanders said, “The only thing we can share is that Donald and Maya laid out their vision for Season 2, and we’re incredibly excited about it. It’s wildly imaginative. It’s really unpredictable,” while Salke added, “I think it’ll bring audiences everything they want.”
