Many ’90s classics have been brought back for a reboot in recent years, and Cruel Intentions is the next one in line. Amazon Prime Video dropped the first trailer for the modern-day version of the hit teen thriller about a duo of ruthless step-siblings who’ll do anything in their power to climb the social ladder.
Cruel Intentions will take us to an elite Washington college, where two ruthless step-siblings will do anything to stay on top of the cutthroat social hierarchy.
“After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Panhellenic system at their school, they’ll do whatever is necessary to preserve their power and reputation, even if that means seducing the daughter of the vice president of the United States,” reads the show’s official logline.
Sarah Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess, and Savannah Lee Smith lead the cast of the new series, and they’ll be joined by Sara Silva, Khobe Clarke, John Harlan Kim, Brooke Lena Johnson, and Sean Patrick Thomas.
Cruel Intentions draws inspiration from the 1999 film of the same name, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon, and Selma Blair. The new version was created for Amazon Prime Video by Phoebe Fisher and Sara Goodman, and it will premiere on November 21 with all eight episodes.
