The talented Mr. Scott is set to play the talented Mr. Ripley.

Showtime is creating a series based on the Patricia Highsmith novel, The Talented Mr. Ripley, about a con-artist turned serial killer.

Andrew Scott has been tapped to star in the titular role — which was previously played on screen by Matt Damon in 1999 — after having received critical acclaim for both Fleabag and Sherlock.

The series will consist of eight episodes that will be written and directed by Steven Zaillian who brought us The Night Of.

“We are so thrilled to have the supremely talented filmmaker, Steve Zaillian, adapt the singular saga of Tom Ripley from Patricia Highsmith’s novels as an ongoing series for Showtime,” said Showtime entertainment president, Gary Levine, in a statement. “With Andrew Scott, whose charisma knows no bounds, inhabiting the iconic lead role, we feel confident that this will be a special one.”

We can hardly wait.
