It’s been years since The Queen’s Gambit turned Anya Taylor-Joy into a household name, and her next Netflix series is finally on the way. The Emmy-nominated actress is gearing up to lead the streamer’s adaptation of Bella Mackie’s bestselling novel How to Kill Your Family.
Taylor-Joy will lead the series as Grace, the daughter of a ruthless billionaire Simon Artemis, who left her and her mother to fend for themselves. Following her mother’s death, Grace channels her anger and grief into revenge and starts killing off her estranged family members, crawling her way to a hefty inheritance.
Taylor-Joy said that she knew she had to be a part of bringing this story to life as soon as she turned the last page of the script, and she can’t wait to get to work.
“After some (light) stalking of the inimitable Bella Mackie, I could not be more thrilled to be collaborating with the team that is Sally, Lizzie, and Emma. I am looking forward to getting our hands even dirtier,” said Taylor-Joy in a statement.
This will mark Anya Taylor-Joy’s first starring TV role since Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, which won her a Golden Globe and a SAG Award. She appeared in many high-profile films since its release, including this year’s blockbusters Dune: Part Two and Furiosa.
