Apple Has Scrapped a Hyped-Up Show

Apple TV+ has reportedly decided not to continue with plans for its series Bastards.

The potential show was set to be an adaptation of the Israeli drama Nevelot, which first came out in 2012.

The original series is based on the novel from Yoram Kaniuk and created by Dror Sabo with Daphna Levin and Lee Yardeni for Israel’s HOT network.

The adapted version was scheduled to be produced by the original creators and Pretty Woman actor Richard Gere.

It would have followed two elderly Vietnam vets and best friends who find their monotonous lives upended when a woman they both loved 50 years ago is killed by a car. Their lifelong regrets and secrets collide with their resentment of today’s self-absorbed millennials, and an act of self-defense snowballs into a tragic series of events.

Although ordered straight to series last year, Apple has decided to scrap Bastards after it could not come to an agreement with the writers about the tone of the show.
