The assassination of Abraham Lincoln remains one of the most notorious crimes in American history, and Apple TV+ will explore it with a new series. The first trailer for Manhunt is here, and it chronicles the wild hunt for Lincoln’s killer John Wilkes Booth.

Apple TV+ describes this series as “a conspiracy thriller about one of the best known but least understood crimes in history, the astonishing story of the hunt for John Wilkes Booth in the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination.”

Based on James L. Swanson’s book Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln’s Killer, this series will take place in the aftermath of Lincoln’s murder, and it will see Edwin Stanton desperately trying to hunt down John Wilkes Booth and bring him to justice.

Tobias Menzies (The Crown, Outlander) will lead the series as Edwin Stanton, and he’ll be joined by Anthony Boyle (Masters of the Air), Lovie Simone (Greenleaf), Will Harrison (Daisy Jones & The Six), Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Patton Oswalt (The Sandman), Matt Walsh (Veep), plus Hamish Linklater (The Big Short) as Abraham Lincoln.

Manhunt will arrive on Apple TV+ with a two-episode premiere on March 15. The remaining five episodes will debut weekly on Fridays through April 19.
