This fall is shaping up to be a pretty great season for Colin Farrell, and one of his new shows is officially coming back for another ride. Apple TV+ renewed the mystery drama Sugar for its second season, with Farrell set to return in the role of the private detective John Sugar.

Sugar puts a modern twist on the classic private detective stories, and it centers on an enigmatic private detective struggling with personal demons while investigating mysteries around Los Angeles. Season 1 saw him search for a wealthy Hollywood producer’s granddaughter, and he’ll take on another missing person’s case in the upcoming Season 2.

Mark Protosevich created this series for Apple TV+, and the supporting cast of its first season included Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler, and Alex Hernandez.

Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, confirmed the show’s renewal and praised Sugar for gripping the audience with its mysteries and twists.

“Colin, Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and the entire team behind this series have brilliantly blended genres to create a compelling, can’t-miss series that keeps viewers guessing, and we cannot wait to see where Detective John Sugar finds himself in season two,” Cherniss said in a statement.
