If we had to pick an actress who’s been truly booked and busy throughout 2023, it would certainly be Ayo Edebiri. She has about a dozen of credits to her name this year alone, and we’ve seen her appear in some of the best TV shows of the year, starting with these three.
The Bear
Edebiri got her big break with the role on FX’s culinary dramedy The Bear, and she was on top of her game during its second season. Her character Sydney remains the beating heart of this show, and Season 2 saw her dealing with the anxiety of opening a new restaurant in the post-pandemic world.
Abbott Elementary
Abbott Elementary is one of the most popular sitcoms on broadcast TV right now, and Edebiri couldn’t pass on a chance to take part. She joined the show in the role of Ayesha Teagues, the rebellious younger sister of the main character Janine Teagues.
Black Mirror
Netflix’s hit anthology series Black Mirror returned for its sixth season this year, and its opening episode “Joan Is Awful” certainly created the biggest splash. In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, Edebiri plays one of the small supporting roles, joining the likes of Annie Murphy, Salma Hayek Pinault, Ben Barnes, Michael Cera, Avi Nash, and Rob Delaney.
