Netflix has given us one of its biggest surprise hits in recent months with Baby Reindeer, and this show is getting credit where credit is due. This limited series soared to the top of the streamer’s English-language TV chart with 13.3 million views.

Baby Reindeer was created for Netflix by the British comedian Richard Gadd, and it draws inspiration from his one-man show of the same name. It’s based on his real-life experience with being stalked and chronicles his “warped relationship with his female stalker and the impact it has on him as he is ultimately forced to face a deep, dark buried trauma,” according to its official logline.

Richard Gadd created this series and plays the lead role alongside Jessica Gunning, while the supporting cast includes Nava Mau, Tom Goodman-Hill, Hugh Coles, Michael Wildman, Danny Kirrane, Shalom Brune-Franklin, and Nina Sosanya.

Baby Reindeer debuted on Netflix on April 11 and initially attracted 2.6 million views in its first few days of availability, only to rise to the top with 13.3 million. These numbers are quite impressive considering its seven-episode count and the lack of a large-scale marketing campaign ahead of its release.

The rest of the shows in the top ten were far behind Baby Reindeer, including Unlocked: A Jail Experiment at No. 2 with 5 million views and 3 Body Problem at No. 3 with 3.2 million views.
