Fans lost it when it was announced that Ncuti Gatwa will take over from Jodie Whittaker as Doctor Who, and we finally know what he’ll look like when he steps into the iconic role. The first look at Gatwa as the Time Lord is here ahead of his Doctor Who debut next year.

In the first-look photos, Gatwa can be seen giving us his own take on the beloved character in a fluffy orange sweater and a chic tweed brown suit. He can be seen posing next to Millie Gibson, who’s set to play the Doctor’s next companion Ruby Sunday.

Russell T. Davies, who’ll return as showrunner, teased that the new season and the upcoming 60th anniversary special have got plenty more surprises on the way.

“The path to Ncuti’s Fifteenth Doctor is laden with mystery, horror, robots, puppets, danger and fun! And how is it connected to the return of the wonderful Donna Noble? How, what, why? We’re giving you a year to speculate, and then all hell lets loose!” said Davies in a statement.

David Tennant will return as the Time Lord in the three-episode anniversary special along with Catherine Tate, set to air in November 2023. Gatwa will take over in Season 14, but he’s expected to star in his first full episode over the festive period in 2023.
