The Television Academy Honors celebrates extortionary programs using the power of storytelling to propel social change, and this year’s list of recipients has been announced. Netflix’s Beef and Heartstopper and National Geographic’s A Small Light are among the shows that made the cut.

Television Academy chair Cris Abrego announced this year’s list of winners, explaining they aimed to celebrate programs that raise awareness about complex issues facing society.

“This year’s honorees have leveraged the medium’s power to drive meaningful conversation and create social impact. We honor their commitment to authentic, evocative storytelling that tackles important social issues that affect the global audience,” said in a statement.

Netflix’s eight-time Emmy-winning limited series Beef is one of the shows being honored for its honest portrayal of loneliness and depression in the modern world. The streamer’s teen drama Heartstopper will also be honored for celebrating the spectrum of queer love.

A Small Light, a war drama about a Dutch woman who risked her life to shelter Anne Frank’s family during World War II, is also one of the recipients. Four non-scripted series – 1000% Me: Growing Up Mixed, The 1619 Project, Deadlocked: How America Shaped the Supreme Court, and Lakota Nation vs. United States – will also be celebrated at the ceremony on May 23 at Citizen News in Hollywood.
