Berlin is slowly growing into one of Netflix’s most popular non-English dramas, and its future is looking bright. Pedro Alonso and the gang are gearing up for another adventure after the streaming giant renewed the Money Heist spin-off for its second season.
Berlin is set years before the original series, and it shifts focus to Andrés de Fonollosa aka Berlin, one of the fan-favorite Money Heist characters. He joined forces with a brand-new criminal gang and embarked on another epic heist—stealing 63 royal jewels from 34 cities, worth around €44 million, all in one glorious night.
Berlin was in pretty good company this time around, since he found amazing partners in crime in his faithful sidekick Roi (Julio Peña, Through My Window), a cybersecurity mastermind Keila (Michelle Jenner, Bird Box Barcelona), a man of action Bruce (Joel Sánchez), a philanthropic professor Damián (Tristán Ulloa, Fariña), and reckless and self-destructive Cameron (Begoña Vargas, Welcome to Eden).
Seeing Netflix renew Berlin doesn’t come as a huge shocker given its impressive viewership numbers. This spin-off reached the top 10 in 91 countries following its premiere in late December and became one of the streamer’s most popular non-English series with 348 million hours viewed and 53 million total views.
