Many acclaimed shows we all know and love were honored at the Emmys on Monday night, but Better Call Saul wasn’t one of them. Breaking Bad spin-off joined the “too good for Emmys” club after receiving zero Emmy wins across its six-season run, despite being nominated 53 times.

Better Call Saul came into this year’s Emmys with five nominations for a Primetime Emmy Awards, plus an additional two nods at the Creative Arts Emmys. It managed to lose in all the categories it was nominated in, including outstanding drama series, outstanding lead actor (Bob Odenkirk), outstanding supporting actress (Rhea Seehorn), and outstanding writing in a drama series.

This defeat marked the continuation of an unsettling trend for the acclaimed legal drama, which received 53 Emmy nominations and zero wins over the years. Its fans were always hoping it would have better luck next time, but all hope is lost since Better Call Saul won’t get a chance to compete again after ending its run in 2022.

Better Call Saul premiered in 2015, as a spin-off of the hit AMC series Breaking Bad, and centered on the adventures of a lawyer Jimmy McGill, before he became the shady criminal defense attorney Saul Goodman. In addition to Odenkirk and Seehorn, this series also starred Jonathan Banks, Patrick Fabian, Michael Mando, Michael McKean, Giancarlo Esposito, and Tony Dalton.
