It’s been a while since Barry ended its run after four seasons, and Bill Hader is finally ready for his next collaboration with HBO. The Emmy-winning actor is plotting another comedy series for HBO alongside Barry writer Duffy Boudreau.

The untitled series is still in the early stages of development, and it will reportedly center on a woman in a small town who has a big secret revealed. This project marks the recent collaboration between Hader and Boudreau, who previously co-wore multiple episodes of Documentary Now before joining forces on Barry.

This black comedy ran on HBO from 2018 to 2023 and starred Hader as a depressed hitman, who finds his new calling after joining an acting class. The show’s cast also included Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Glenn Fleshler, Anthony Carrigan, Henry Winkler, Sarah Burns, and Robert Wisdom.

In addition to playing the lead role, Hader also created this series for HBO and served as its writer, director, and executive producer, eventually winning two Emmys for his performance. Saturday Night Live alum starred in several films during its run, including It Chapter Two and Noelle. He’s mostly been focusing on voice roles since Barry wrapped up, and he’ll next be heard as the titular character in The Cat in the Hat.
