Blythe Danner Joins “American Gods”

Blythe Danner is about to become the goddess we all know she is.

The Will & Grace actress has signed on to star in the upcoming season of American Gods.

The series Starz series is based on the novel by Neil Gaiman that was published in 2001.

The third season of the show will include a brand new showrunner after the previous season saw both original showrunners, Bryan Fuller and Michael Green, depart the production, leaving Jesse Alexander in charge. Charles Eglee will now take over.

Danner has been cast as Demeter who is the goddess of agriculture, according to Greek mythology.

Her storyline will include a 4-episode arch in which she is involved in an unresolved romance with Mr. Wednesday who attempts to convince her to aid his war efforts by being involuntarily committed to a mental institution.

Ian McShane, Ricky Whittles, Emily Browning, Pablo Schrieber, Crispin Glover, and Orlando Jones are expected to return for season 3.
