Netflix’s series Man on Fire recently cast Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the lead role, and it’s slowly rounding out its supporting cast. Bobby Cannavale is the latest star to board this eight-episode series in the role of an ex-soldier whose nurturing nature is a cover for his acute awareness of violence.

This Netflix series will be based on the A.J. Quinnell novel of the same name, and it will star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Creasy. A once high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary plagued with intense PTSD, he finds himself fighting harder than ever despite his determination to overcome his personal demons and start over.

Cannavale will join him as Paul Rayburn, described as a charming, nurturing, and protective ex-Special Forces soldier who possesses a unique ability to read people since he’s also extremely quick-witted and incredibly intellectual. His warm, fatherly nature hides his acute awareness of violence and human behavior and his special skill to find all the answers he doesn’t have.

Cannavale is a two-time Emmy-winning star of Boardwalk Empire and Will and Grace, and his impressive TV resume includes roles in Nurse Jackie, Homecoming, Nine Perfect Strangers, and The Watcher. On the movie side, he’s fresh off starring in MaXXXine, and he recently landed a key role in Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon.
