Mindy Kaling is currently plotting her next project with Netflix, and three amazing actors have just been added to its cast. Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur, and Drew Tarver will star opposite Kate Hudson in Kaling’s upcoming basketball comedy series.
This untitled series will center on Isla Gordon (Hudson), who’s suddenly appointed president of the successful basketball franchise the Los Angeles Waves, after her brother is forced to resign following a very public scandal.
The Other Two’s Tarver and The Righteous Gemstones’ MacArthur joined the series as Isla’s brothers Sandy and Ness. Sandy believes he’s the smartest guy in the room and he’s been working hard to prove he can return the franchise to greatness. His brother Ness serves as the team’s general manager and he yearns for greatness in the front office after one humiliating season as a professional player.
Dollface’s Song will join them as Ali Lee, the Waves’ chief of staff, who has known Isla since their college days and understands the complex dynamics within the Gordon family.
The ten-episode series was written by Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen. They’re coming on board as executive producer alongside Hudson, Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis, with Stassen serving as the showrunner.
