Nicolas Cage will return as Spider-Man Noir in Amazon’s new live-action series, and he’ll be in pretty good company. Brendan Gleeson and Lamorne Morris will join him in Spider-Man Noir, inspired by Cage’s character from the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Spider-Man Noir was ordered by MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video back in May, and it marks the first live-action take on this character. According to its official logline, it will tell the story of “an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”

Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot serve as co-showrunners and co-creators of this project. They’re executive producing it alongside Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, who also produced Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which marked Cage’s first voice appearance as Spider-Man Noir.

Lamorne Morris (New Girl) joined the cast as a driven and hard-working journalist Robbie Robertson, who takes on riskier stories that no one else would touch in order to catch attention and a paycheck. Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) has been cast in a mystery role, but he’s expected to play the show’s main villain.
