Carice Van Houten Thinks Melisandre Should Be in the “GOT” Prequel

Game of Thrones has had some infamously controversial characters throughout its eight-year run, and one of them was certainly Melisandre.

The Red Woman performed some questionable — and downright shocking — acts in the name of the Lord of Light, leading to her being someone who fans loved to hate.

That said, Carice Van Houten would like to see her priestess return to Westeros in the upcoming prequel series — even if she doesn’t.

The show is set to be set thousands of years before the events depicted in HBO’s multi-award winning drama. But as we learnt, Melisandre is likely to have been around for a few millennia, with her youthful appearance courtesy of her magical necklace.

“”I guess you could see a very young Melisandre or something like that. That could be fun,” Van Houten told Deadline of the spin-off. “But not in the shape of me. No one has contacted me about it. There are so many great characters, but I personally would have loved to see more of Melisandre’s background.”

So would we, producers. So would we.
