]]>It’s impossible to imagine anyone but Murphy playing the calculated Peaky Blinders leader, but the Oscar-nominated actor revealed he had to fight for this role during a recent appearance on BBC’s Desert Island Discs.
“I wasn’t the obvious choice physically. I don’t know if I convinced Stephen in the meeting, but apparently, afterwards I sent him a text that said: ‘Remember, I am an actor.’ And I do believe that. I do think it is our duty as actors to transform to whatever the part demands,” explained Murphy.
Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight previously revealed he got this text from Murphy, and later realized he could inhabit the role completely despite not being an obvious choice to play Tommy Shelby.
Peaky Blinders ended its run in 2022 after six seasons, and Knight recently revealed he’s finishing up a script for a follow-up movie. Murphy isn’t officially attached to this project, but he’s open to coming back if “there’s more story to tell.”

]]>Cooper made his television debut on an episode of the hit HBO drama in 1999, opposite the leading lady Sarah Jessica Parker. His role was pretty small, but filming it wasn’t easy, especially after it turned out that Cooper lied about being able to drive a sports car during his audition.
The A Star is Born actor admitted he was terrified after getting the callback and later struggled filming his scenes.
“I couldn’t drive a stick shift, so they sent me to Models Driving School and I was just terrified… I still messed it up, so they had somebody else drive the car and I just had to… pretend that we stopped,” he recalled while speaking at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Cooper wasn’t the only star to make it big in Hollywood following a guest appearance on SATC. Elizabeth Banks, Justin Theroux, Vince Vaughn, and Matthew McConaughey also went on to become huge stars after having brief stints on this show.

]]>Long before becoming a household name in the world of comedy, O’Hara was cast on the sixth season of SNL in the early 1980s. Years later, she decided to put a stop to stories about quitting because she “was supposedly scared by somebody” and revealed what really went on.
O’Hara recently discussed her shocking departure with People and revealed she decided to leave SNL due to her devotion to the Canadian sketch comedy show SCTV.
“Our producer would get a deal with a network, and we’d have a show for a season or two, and then that deal would go away. There’d be a break, then we’d do the show again. [During the break] I got asked to be on SNL and of course, I said yes. Who doesn’t want to do that?” recalled O’Hara.
SCTV was picked for another season shortly after she was cast on SNL, and O’Hara left the NBC show without filming a single episode because she wanted to rejoin her “comedy family”. The Emmy winner said this decision was “stupid” in retrospect, but added that “it all worked out the way it was supposed to.”

]]>The post Alec Baldwin Once Tried to Get a Very Specific Role in “The Sopranos” appeared first on watchingtvnow.com.
]]>Baldwin recently made an appearance on the Talking Sopranos podcast, hosted by series stars Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa, and revealed that he once relentlessly pursued a very specific role on the show. According to the Emmy Award-winning actor, he wanted to play a man who gets to “whack” mob boss Tony Soprano and then “ride off” with Tony’s wife Carmela.
Unfortunately for Baldwin, his attempts were unsuccessful. “They were like, ‘Sure, great. We’ll add your name to the list of all the Irish actors who think that they should be on The Sopranos,” said Baldwin about the response he got.
The reason why Baldwin didn’t get a call might have to do with the fact that his idea would completely change the show’s ending.
If you watched The Sopranos, then you probably know that the character Baldwin describes doesn’t exist. The show ends with Tony sitting to have dinner with his family, and there is no indication that someone might “whack” him and “ride off” with his wife.
There is also a chance that Alec Baldwin missed out on The Sopranos appearance because of his awkward run-in with the show’s creator David Chase. Baldwin told Imperioli and Schirripa that he first met Chase in a bathroom of a Four Seasons restaurant while trying to dry off his shirt with a mechanical dryer.
“And I think based on that alone, I was never cast on your show,” he explained.

]]>Season 3 introduced new characters including Robin, played by relative newcomer Maya Hawke. In the latest installment of Netflix’s FYSEE TV series Scene Stealers, Hawke joined Emmy-winning cast director Carmen Cuba to discuss how it feels to go from being a fangirl to landing a role on the series.
“For an actor, you’re a fan of the show not just as an entity…You’re a fan of the people who make it, the action that goes on in it, the dialogue, the environment [and] the fun it looks like people are having,” Hawke said.“I didn’t have, like, a fandom reaction,” she says. “I had a thrilling reaction to the idea I could get to say that dialogue that the Duffer Brothers write so intelligently and so specifically,” she continued.
Robin works with Steve at Scoops Ahoy, a local ice cream shop, and she keeps him on his toes. Although they were enemies in high school, the two become friends and help Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Erica (Priah Ferguson) as well as the rest of the Stranger Things gang, defeat the Russians and the Demogorgon.
Fans rooted for Steve and Robin to get together, but later in the season, Robin revealed that she’s a lesbian which only strengthens their relationship.
On playing Robin Hawke said, “I love playing this character. She really allows me to embrace parts of myself that I’ve often tried to hide. She has this darkness to her, this kind of physical awkwardness, a little bit of a social outcast feeling to her and an intense intelligence. Those are all pieces of my personality, but they’re not necessarily the ones that I try to put first.”
We can’t wait to catch her in Season 4 of Stranger Things, which has yet to release a date. But, in February, Netflix revealed that production on Season 4 has begun.

]]>The spin-off sees a young Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage) navigating life as a genius child prodigy growing up in a religious household. The show explores his relationship with his parents and follows Sheldon’s journey to becoming the grown-up Sheldon we came to know and love on The Big Bang Theory.
Recently, the show featured a cameo from Kaley Cuoco. In the latest episode “Pasadena,” the show beautifully foreshadowed where Sheldon will end up in a decade’s time.
In the episode, Sheldon’s father takes him to see a talk by his hero Stephen Hawking. The talk is taking place at the California Institute of Technology, which is the university where Sheldon ends up researching theoretical physics.
When the pair are walking around the campus, Sheldon says: “Imagine all the stimulating conversations that go on at these tables.” He later says: “I can see myself going here one day.”
The camera then pans out to see that Sheldon and his father are standing in the cafeteria of Caltech, where grown-up Sheldon had lunch with Leonard, Howard and Raj season after season in The Big Bang Theory. And it was adorable.

]]>The cast of The Brady Bunch, which included Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb, Susan Olsen, Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, and Mike Lookinland visited Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen last Thursday to talk about the classic series before the crossover TV program by HGTV/Food Network A Very Brady Renovation: Holiday Edition. While reminiscing about the show, Susan Olsen, who played Cindy Brady said, “Jodie Foster was up for Cindy.”
Andy Cohen also asked the stars which one was most affected by the success of the show and Eve Plumb, who played Jan Brady said, “The atmosphere was very much, ‘This is our job. This is what we do. We show up, we pay attention.” Christopher Knight who played Peter Brady added that Florence Henderson, who played Carol Brady, was a great role model for the younger cast members.
In addition to these topics, the cast talked about Cousin Oliver, their first kisses, and who they dated while on the show. You can catch the full interview in the videos below.

]]>Within the first 10 minutes of the first episode, it becomes very apparent that The Boys breaks all superhero tropes and is far darker, and far more gripping than your typical superhero series. Here are five reasons why you should give the show a shot.
The opening scene shows the superheroes saving the day, quickly followed by selfies and the suggestion that the heroes are more of a marketing ploy than real people. It becomes evident very quickly, through a number of shocking scenes, that the superheroes care more about social media and making money than actually saving people.
The Boys cleverly explores both social and political issues that we face in the real world. The social commentary in places is sharp and the exploration of social media is indicative of the world we live in.
To put it simply, the show is well written. It’s packed with plot twists and it’s rarely predictable. As an audience, we find ourselves feeling both contempt and sympathy toward the characters we are set up to hate.
As well as being gritty and grueling, most episodes will still manage to make you laugh out loud. Think Deadpool but with more gore and social satire.
Throughout the violence, addiction and revenge plots, there is a true love story at the center. Thankfully, the theme of love gives the audience a sense of optimism throughout the series.
