CBS is getting ready to unveil their fall schedule, and one beloved series failed to make the cut. NCIS: Hawai’i, the first female-led series in the hit police procedural franchise, will end its run with the upcoming Season 3 finale.

NCIS: Hawaiʻi premiered on CBS in 2021, and it followed special agent Jane Tennant and a team of Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents working at the Pearl Harbor Field Office in Hawaiʻi.

Vanessa Lachey, who led the cast of this series, said she’s “gutted, confused, blindsided” by its cancelation. She was joined by Alex Tarrant, Noah Mills, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Jason Antoon, Tori Anderson, and Kian Talan in supporting roles.

Matt Bosack, who served as co-creator and showrunner of this series, addressed its cancelation on social media and said he’s forever grateful to people who made it possible.

“I’m proud of the stories we were able to tell over these 3 seasons. To tell fun Navy crime mysteries but also dig into ideas about family, life, love, identity… To all the fans, especially those who saw themselves in these characters, mahalo nui loa. A hui hou,” he wrote on the social media platform X.

The third and final season of NCIS: Hawai’i is currently airing on CBS, and it will end its run on May 6.
