The second season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series Monster is yet to premiere on Netflix, but Ryan Murphy already has a very clear vision for its next chapter. Season 3 will shift focus to the deranged serial killer Ed Gein, and Charlie Hunnam is circling the lead role in this project.
Ed Gein went down in history as one of the most notorious serial killers of the 1950s, after not only killing several people but also digging up graves from a nearby cemetery and fashioning keepsakes from their bones and skin. He served as inspiration for several pop culture villains, including Norman Bates from Psycho and Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs.
He was briefly featured in the first season Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, with Shane Kerwin portraying this character. Ryan Murphy is now ready to further explore his story, and he cast Charlie Hunnam in the lead role.
Hunnam is best known as the star of the crime drama Sons of Anarchy, in addition to starring in such hit movies as Pacific Rim, The Lost City of Z, and The Gentlemen. He most recently appeared in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, and will next be seen in Amazon Prime Video’s series Criminal.
