Netflix has dropped a brand new trailer for the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and it’s darker than we expected.
The trailer commences with a loved-up Sabrina returning home after sneaking out at night to meet up with her boyfriend just like a normal teenager. The twist comes when she uses her magical powers to turn on the radio when she gets through the door. You know, because she’s not just any old teenager… she’s half witch.
Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) is a quirky, instantly likable character who must choose on her 16th birthday between becoming a full witch or giving up her powers to live in the mortal world. About one minute into the trailer, the tone shifts from playful Halloween fun to something far more sinister.
A montage of cultism, possession, demons, blood and murder talk follows, all to the sound of upbeat Motown. The preview also contains an exciting range of characters and its fair share of comical moments. In fact, it looks like the new series will contain just about everything you could ask for from a Netflix original.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will premiere on Netflix, October 26.
