True crime dramas are going stronger than ever these days, and Christina Ricci and Hamish Linklater are gearing up to lead one of them. This amazing duo has been cast in Chop Shop, set against the backdrop of a sinister funeral business in the 1980s San Fernando Valley.
Chop Shop is based on Kathy Braidhill’s book of the same name and chronicles what went behind closed doors of Lamb Funeral Home in 1980s Los Angeles after David Sconce took the reins of the family business.
The former football star led his family on a jaw-dropping descent from saints to sinners after engineering a sinister new business strategy to keep the funeral home afloat, replete with human body harvesting and mass cremation.
Andy Bellin (Lovelace) is writing the script, while Untitled Entertainment is currently on the lookout for potential directors and showrunners. They’re producing the project alongside Ricci and Laura Rister.
The Addams Family star Ricci made a successful transition to television in recent years, with roles in Wednesday and Yellowjackets, which earned her a Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nomination. As for Hamish Linklater, the Midnight Mass star most recently played Abraham Lincoln in the Apple TV+ historical drama Manhunt and will next be seen in the second season of Gen V.
