Clive Owen has been cast in the third installment of the limited series American Crime Story.
FX’s award-winning series has cast Owen to star as former US President Bill Clinton. The series will focus on Clinton’s impeachment scandal.
Clive will star opposite previously cast Beanie Feldstein who will play Monica Lewinsky. Also starring are Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones.
Impeachment was written by Sarah Burgess who serves as executive producer alongside ACS team Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk, Larry Karaszewski, Scott Alexander, Alexis Martin Woodall, and Sarah Paulson.
“We do a show that is very thoroughly fact-checked and vetted and based on bestselling books by Jeffrey Toobin,” Murphy told Deadline. “I think the reason why it’s interesting is because you don’t have to change anything to feel modern. And I think that idea of impeachment obviously with Trump is fascinating. I wouldn’t say that we’re changing things that much or mentioning Trump at all in our narrative.”
Impeachment follows The People v. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
