Cobra Kai did a great job inviting us back into the world of Karate Kid and its final season is just around the corner. Netflix renewed this hit martial arts series for its sixth season, while also announcing this will be its last chapter.

Cobra Kai premiered on Netflix in 2018 and it centered on Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka). Three decades after the events of the original Karate Kid, their lives still overlap and their rivalry is still alive and well.

In addition to Macchio and Zabka, Cobra Kai also stars Xolo Maridueña, Courtney Henggeler, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Peyton List, and Vanessa Rubio, and it saw Martin Kove and Thomas Ian Griffith return to their roles from the original film.

Creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg released a lengthy statement announcing Cobra Kai’s cancelation and said it was their humble honor to revisit the world of Karate Kid and expand the original storyline by introducing a new generation of underdog heroes.

“Our day one goal with Cobra Kai has always been to end it on our terms, leaving the Valley in the time and place we’ve always imagined. So it is with immense pride and thankfulness that we are able to announce that achievement,” said the trio in a statement.
