People lost it when Amazon Prime Video announced they’re plotting pop-culture-themed Jeopardy! spin-off and this game show has found its host. Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost will host Pop Culture Jeopardy!, the first Jeopardy! spin-off made exclusively for streaming.
Suzanne Prete, president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television, announced Jost agreed to hop on board as the host of Pop Culture Jeopardy! and described him as a perfect choice.
“Colin’s sharp wit and intelligence epitomize Pop Culture Jeopardy! He’s smart and quick, like our contestants, and we know he’ll be able to keep up with them while making this new series his own. We could not be happier that he is joining us for this new journey,” said Prete in a statement.
Lauren Anderson, head of brand and content innovation for Amazon MGM Studios, echoed her statement, saying they’re thrilled to welcome Jost because his “wry affability and pop culture fluency make him uniquely qualified as the perfect host.”
Colin Jost joined Saturday Night Live as a staff writer in 2005 and quickly rose through the ranks of NBC’s cult sketch comedy show. He now serves as the co-anchor of Weekend Update alongside Michael Che, a position which they’ve held since 2014.
