Netflix’s Beef is fresh off winning three Golden Globe Awards, but what does this triumph mean for the show’s future? Its creator Lee Sung Jin revealed he’s open to exploring more stories set in this world because he always envisioned Beef as an anthology series.
The first season of Beef starred Ali Wong as self-made entrepreneur Amy and Steven Yeun as a struggling contractor Danny, whose lives are changed forever in the aftermath of a road rage incident gone wrong.
The series also starred Joseph Lee, Young Mazino, David Choe, and Patti Yasutake, and it’s fresh off winning three awards at the Golden Globes, including best limited series, anthology series, or television movie, plus acting accolades for Wong and Yeun.
Lee Sung Jin discussed the show’s future with reports at the Golden Globes and said he’s open to the idea of cooking up some more Beef.
“We always pitched the season to buyers as an anthology series. There was always going to be new characters. Whether it stays limited or turns as an anthology or we continue existing, that’s really up to Netflix. But whatever they decide, I’m definitely ready,” said Jin.
Beef is also in the running for nine awards at the Primetime Emmy Awards, including the best limited or anthology series, after winning three Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
