Daniel Radcliffe rose to prominence while leading the Harry Potter franchise, and HBO’s upcoming series will reintroduce his character to a new generation of fans. He recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming series and revealed if he’d be a part of it.
HBO joined forces with Warner Bros. Discovery to plot a new series set in Harry Potter in April last year. Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, described it as “a faithful adaptation”, adding it will dive deep into each of the iconic books from this series.
The information about this series is still scarce, but we know that HBO is eyeing a 2026 release date. They also narrowed down the search for potential writers and showrunners to Kathleen Jordan (Teenage Bounty Hunters), Tom Moran (The Devil’s Hour), and Francesca Gardiner (Succession).
There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding this series, but one thing we know for sure is that Daniel Radcliffe won’t be a part of it. He recently shared his thoughts about this project with E! News and said he’s not planning to make a cameo or a guest appearance.
“Like the rest of the world, [I’m] very excited to watch as an audience member… I don’t think [I’ll be in it]. I think they very wisely want to [have] a clean break. And I don’t know if it would work to have us do anything in it,” Radcliffe explained.
