David Thewlis Lands Lead Role in The CW Series “Sherlock and Daughter”

We’ve seen countless amazing actors play Sherlock Holmes over the years, and David Thewlis is the next one in line. Harry Potter star will lead the upcoming mystery series Sherlock and Daughter, which has just been picked up by The CW.

Sherlock and Daughter will see Sherlock Holmes being forced to get out of his comfort zone while struggling to investigate a sinister case that comes with the risk of putting the lives of his closest friends on the line.

He’ll be joined by Blu Hunt (The Originals) in the role of American Amelia, who learns that the legendary detective might be her missing father. They must “work together to solve a global conspiracy, crack her mother’s murder, and find out for sure if she really is Sherlock’s daughter”, according to the series’ official synopsis.

The leading duo will also be joined by Dougray Scott (Batwoman) in the role of Sherlock’s most formidable enemy, Moriarty. The rest of the supporting cast is yet to be announced.

Sherlock and Daughter was created, written, and executive produced by Brendan Foley (Cold Courage), while James Duff (Major Crimes) serves as its showrunner and one of the EPs alongside Karine Martin, Chris Philip, Peter Gerwe, Dominic Barlow and Ivan Dunleavy.
