“Days of Our Lives” Renewed For Season 56

NBC has renewed its longest-running series for a 56th season.

Deadline reports that news of the renewal was confirmed by the series’ executive producer Ken Corday of Corday Productions. According to sources, the EP delivered the news to the cast, however, the deal with the network is not completely done (but it’s close).

This is somewhat of a plot twist. Less than two weeks ago it was reported that the entire cast of the series had been released from their contracts.

Days first debuted in 1965 and has since aired over 13,000 episodes. It’s one of the few daytime soaps still on the air.
